External Service
This plugin sends/requests media from the Cocoon web service at https://<your-subdomain>.use-cocoon.nl/webservice/wsdl.
Data sent to Cocoon:
* Authentication credentials (subdomain, username, hashed request ID)
* Request IDs for API calls
Data received from Cocoon:
* Media files metadata (titles, dimensions, file sizes)
* Thumbnail images
* Sets and tags information
No personal user data (emails, names, etc.) is sent to Cocoon. Only your configured API credentials are used for authentication.

Minimum Requirements
- WordPress 6.0 or higher
- PHP 8.0 or higher
- PHP SOAP extension enabled
- MySQL 5.7+ or MariaDB 10.2+
Installation Steps
- Upload the plugin files to
/wp-content/plugins/cocoon-media-management/, or install the plugin through the WordPress plugins screen directly - Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ screen in WordPress
- Contact Cocoon (support@use-cocoon.nl) to get your API credentials
- Go to Cocoon Settings and enter your credentials:
- Subdomain (without .use-cocoon.nl)
- Username
- Secret Key
- Click “Save Settings” and verify the connection status
Upgrading from 1.5.7
Your settings will be migrated automatically. No manual intervention needed.

Maintenance & Compliance Update (WordPress.org Plugin Review)
- Removed the “Update URI” plugin header (not required for plugins hosted on WordPress.org).
- Cache directory is now created inside the WordPress uploads directory instead of the plugin folder, so no data is stored in the plugin directory (plugin folders are wiped on update and are publicly accessible).
- Settings registered via register_setting() now use strict positive-integer sanitization with range validation (items per page and cache duration), so negative values can no longer be stored.
- All request input ($_POST / $_GET / $_REQUEST) is now unslashed with wp_unslash() before sanitization; nonce values are sanitized with sanitize_text_field( wp_unslash() ) before verification.
